Tonight, Brett was nominated and voted to be the Mayor of Madera!

Charlie Jasper

Meet Charlie Jasper, the newest addition to our family.

Charlie is an almost-5-month-old purebred Maltese whose mom had to get rid of him due to her busy schedule. The family we got him from was so sweet, and they gave us everything from puppy chow to his toothbrush/paste. He's adjusting really well to Jack, our Chow/Daschund/Corgi mix, and slept well his first night in his new home.

RACE RECAP: Two Cities Half-Marathon (Relay)

This morning, we (Brett and Caitlin) ran the Two Cities Half-Marathon! It sounds like it should be a lot of work, but we ran it as a relay with two good friends of ours.

Team Madera Mayor-thoners
Brett ran with good friend and Mayor of Madera, Robert Poythress. Rob ran the first half (5.7 miles) and Brett wrapped up the second half (7.4 miles). The guys finished in 1:42:39, which was 7th place for the men's division!

Caitlin ran with Celeste Voyles, Brett's campaign treasurer who has become a good friend of ours. (She ran her first half-marathon in October! Woohoo!) Caitlin ran the first half and Celeste did the second. The girls finished in 2:17:33.

Bon Voyage, Justin!

Tonight was Justin's "Bon Voyage!" party at our house. Just under 50 of our closest friends and family came to bid him farewell as he prepared to leave for Basic Training Camp. We were enjoying the company so much, we forgot to take pictures!

DAY 8: Disembarking

This morning, we woke up to the sights of Los Angeles, meaning our Disney Cruise had officially come to an end.

We had breakfast at Triton's (one last time!) and talked about our great vacation on the Disney Cruise.

Wyatt took advantage of having a short-order cook on staff on the Disney Wonder. His request: Pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bacon, sausage, eggs, and toast. He received just that.

We were instructed to wait in the Lobby Atrium for our "character" to be called to disembark the ship. When our "character" was called, we disembarked and headed through U.S. Customs. It was a quick and efficient system - Good job, Disney!

DAY 7: Homeward Bound

Saturday was our last full day out at sea and on the cruise.

We started the day off right with a visit from some of our favorite friends!

And someone left a fun surprise back in the stateroom for the kids...

It was a gloomy day as we were just hitting the tip of a hurricane on our way back home. Boy, did we feel it as we were rocking back and forth on the voyage home! Luckily, it wasn't anything a little Mickey-shaped ice cream or a swim in the Mickey pool couldn't cure.
